Michael Rennie turned to extra work in the 30s to supplement his income
as a saleman. But by 1939 he had good enough roles for him to become a
full-time actor after his war service. His first film in 1945 I'll be Your
Sweetheart
made him a star in England, and he continued to work steadily
until 1951 when Hollywood beckoned.
