Ralph Richardson's film career came in second to his stage work, where
he made his name at The Old Vic during the 30s and 40s. He played mainly
character parts on the screen and it is said that very few of his screen roles
did justice to his talent. His performance in The Silver Fleet (1942) was
particularly good, Home at Seven and Outcast of the Islands (both 1949) were
also high points. Not sure how he ended up in Rollerball (1975)?
He was in The Fleet Air Arm during the war and was Knighted in 1947.
