Nova Pilbeam

Born Nova Margery Pilbeam in Wimbledon on November the 15th 1919. Nova's fame seemed to be at it's greatest right at the start of her career when she quickly established herself as a talented child actress. She moved quickly from stage to screen and appeared perhaps most famously in Alfred Hitchcock's 1930's movies "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (1934) and "Young and Innocent" (1937) - US: "The Girl Was Young". However, she also put in a gifted performance in "Tudor Rose" (1935) - US: "Nine Days a Queen".

Unfortunately the early success did not translate to an adult career and although she had quite a few parts during the late 30's and 40's she never managed to regain the momentum of her early years.
